About this event
Sakai City's official tourism site gives the Echizen crab fishing season as 6 November to around 20 March each year; male snow crab landed at Fukui ports carries the brand's yellow tag, and the top grade landed at Mikuni Port is presented to the Imperial Household. Female seiko crab is taken only from 6 November to the end of December. The 2026-27 season runs on the same fixed dates.
