Japan What's On exists because the best reason to pick your travel dates is often a festival, and festival dates are scattered across hundreds of official sites, most of them in Japanese.
We collect the events that can move a flight booking or anchor a trip: the great matsuri, the fireworks circuit, the winter illuminations, snow festivals, cherry blossom and autumn colour, top-flight sport and the arts calendar. Every record is checked against the organiser or an official tourism source, twice: once when it is written and again before it is published.
Some dates are not published yet when we list an event. Those records are labelled "expected window" everywhere they appear, with the basis stated on the event page. We would rather show you an honest window than a confident guess.
The family
Japan What's On is the sister site of What's On Macau and part of the Maison V group of travel sites, built and run by the same small team.
Booking links
Where an event can be booked, booking links are added only after the product, its dates and its commission status have been checked. Where a link earns us commission, the button says so.
