About this event
The festival's official site states that it is held over three days, on the weekend of the first Friday of August; the 57th edition was held in August 2026, so the 2027 edition is expected from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 August 2027, as the 2027 dates had not been published when checked. The summer sandal completes the pair whose other half is offered at the Shinobu Sanzan dawn procession each February, and on the third day it is dedicated at Haguro Shrine on Mt Shinobu. The programme includes waraji odori dancing along Route 13, the Dancing Soda Night street dance and waraji races.
