About this event

The Aizu Painted Candle Festival lights Tsuruga Castle and the Oyakuen medicinal herb garden with thousands of e-rosoku, the hand-painted wax candles that are a traditional Aizu craft, each decorated with flowers and set out in the snow. The Japan Tourism Agency's text for Aizu-Wakamatsu fixes the festival on the second Friday and Saturday of February; the 2027 dates shown apply that rule, as the edition had not been separately announced at verification.
