About this event
The Sanno Matsuri, the annual festival of Hie Shrine, is held on 14 and 15 April every year, the fixed dates published for the Takayama Festival. Karakuri puppet performances are given in front of the temporary shrine by Nakabashi Bridge, and on the night of 14 April the floats tour the town lit by about 100 lanterns each.
