About this event
Over 10,000 dancers parade along Yamagata's main street from Tokamachi through Honmachi and Nanokamachi to the Bunshokan each evening from 18:00 to 21:45, dancing to the Hanagasa Ondo with hats decorated with safflowers. The previous edition was held 5 to 7 August 2026, and the 2027 dates are not yet published, so the dates shown follow the dates the official festival site gives as held annually, 5 to 7 August.
