About this event

The Takada Castle Site Park cherry blossom festival, the Kanosakura-kai, is counted among Japan's three major night blossom events and one of the world's five great flower festivals in CNN's selection. Around 4,000 cherry trees and 3,000 bonbori lanterns fill the park around the restored three-storey turret. The 2026 edition ran from 3 to 19 April per the Joetsu tourism association; 2027 is expected on a similar early-to-mid-April frame.
