About this event

The Saito Kofun Matsuri is held on the first Saturday and Sunday of November at the Saitobaru Burial Mounds, a Japan Heritage site. Kagura is offered on the first day, then a procession of around 800 participants in ancient attire carries torchlight to Goryobo-mae Square for a fire festival evoking ancient mythology. The 2026 dates follow the fixed first weekend pattern, 7 and 8 November; treat the exact programme as subject to the city's announcement.
