About this event
Travel to Tohoku, the official Tohoku tourism site, gives the dance as 16 to 18 August every year, 19:30 to 23:00. Said to be about 700 years old and designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, it fills Honmachi Street with bonfires, drums and graceful Ondo and Ganke dances.
