About this event
Hofu Tenmangu's naked festival, handed down for over a thousand years, is held in late November; the 2026 edition falls on Saturday 28 November. Participants in white festival dress shout Brothers, Wasshoi as they slide the heavy mikoshi down the shrine's large stone steps, about a twenty minute walk from JR Hofu Station.
