About this event
The Shimonoseki Kaikyo Festival is held from 2 to 4 May every year, combining the Senteisai festival honouring the child Emperor Antoku and the Heike clan at Akama Shrine, with its procession of court ladies and warriors, and the Genpei festival at Shimaitoshi Hiroba Park, with stage events and a giant fugu stew. The 2027 dates follow the festival's fixed annual pattern.
