About this event

The Japan National Tourism Organization describes the Yonago Gaina Festival as the city's main summer event, two days at the end of July or beginning of August in which bearers carry rows of lanterns on poles several times their height, taiko drums perform outside Yonago Station, and some 6,000 fireworks close the festival over Lake Nakaumi. The 52nd edition ran on 9 and 10 August 2025; the 2027 weekend is expected in early August and is not yet announced.
