About this event

Oita's official tourism site lists Usuki Takeyoi on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, when around 20,000 hand-cut bamboo lanterns and bamboo artworks line the stone-paved Nioza Historical Road and the castle town streets. The festival welcomes the soul of Princess Hannyahime, heroine of a local legend tied to the Manano Choja who built the Usuki Stone Buddhas.
