About this event

The Kobo-ichi, formally the Mieku market, fills the grounds of Toji Temple on the 21st of every month, the monthly memorial day of Kobo Daishi. Toji's official site states the pattern plainly: the Mieku (Kobo-ichi market) is held on the 21st of every month. Around 1,000 stalls sell antiques, tools, kimono, plants and food around the five-storey pagoda. The January edition, Hatsu-Kobo, and the December edition, Shimai-Kobo, are the largest of the year.
