Where to stay for Tenjin Matsuri.
The festival centres on Osaka Tenmangu Shrine and the Okawa River. A land procession of some 3,000 people crosses the city on the afternoon of 25 July; that evening around 100 boats carry the deity down the river, followed by fireworks. A central Osaka base keeps the shrine, the river and the fireworks inside one evening out.
