About this event

The Setagaya Boro-ichi has been held since 1578 and is designated a Tokyo intangible folk cultural property. It takes place on 15 and 16 December and 15 and 16 January each year, from 9:00 to 20:00, along Boroichi-dori between Kamimachi and Setagaya stations on the Tokyu Setagaya Line. Around 700 stalls sell antiques, used clothing, tools, plants and daily goods. The market takes its name from boro, the old fabric scraps once traded here, and its freshly made daikan mochi rice cakes are a famous draw. Entry is free.
