About this event
Official dates for the 2027 edition are not yet published. Fukuoka Prefecture's official travel guide states the display began more than 350 years ago in 1650 as an offering to Suitengu Shrine, with fireworks set off simultaneously in Kyomachi and Sasayama, and lists the 2026 edition on 5 August 2026; that edition was cancelled following the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake, and the 2025 edition was also scheduled on 5 August, so 5 August 2027 is the expected date.
