About this event
The official Saitama Tourism Support Desk lists the festival on 20 to 22 July every year. It began as rites at Atago Yasaka Shrine to ward off illness; shops once handed out sekihan rice and later uchiwa fans, which gave the festival its name. The final day climax is the Hikkawase Tatakiai, when the twelve floats face off playing festival music.
