About this event
Kitano Tenmangu holds its Tenjin-san market on the 25th of every month, the monthly festival day of Sugawara no Michizane, enshrined here as Tenjin. Kyoto City's official tourism site lists the market from 7:00 until sunset, with around 1,000 stalls along the shrine approach selling antiques, used kimono, plants and street food. The January market is Hatsu-Tenjin, the first of the year, and the December market is Shimai-Tenjin, the last.
