About this event
The Miyajima Tourist Association's 2026 events schedule lists the Chinkasai (Chinka-sai) on Thursday 31 December 2026 from 18:00 at Mikasahama, Itsukushima Shinto Shrine. It is a rite to ward off fire, in which roughly 1,000 torches of all sizes are brought from across the town. The association's events page also lists it as held on December 31 every year.
