About this event
Official dates for the 2027 edition are not yet published. Ise City's official announcement for the previous edition gave the 74th competition on Saturday 18 July 2026, from 19:20 to about 21:00, on the Miyagawa riverbanks upstream of Watarai Bridge, held rain or shine with postponement to 5 September and then 6 September in severe weather. The competition is held in mid-July on the Saturday of the Marine Day holiday weekend, so the 2027 edition is expected on Saturday 17 July 2027, the Saturday before Marine Day (Monday 19 July 2027).
