About this event
Eikando, called Momiji no Eikando (Eikando of the maples) since the Heian period, holds about 3,000 maple trees around its pond and pagoda. The temple's published 2026 programme runs the autumn treasure exhibition from 11 November to 6 December, with the grounds illuminated nightly from 20 November to 6 December (17:30 to 21:00, separate evening admission). Peak colour is usually mid to late November.
