About this event
The festival of Shimogamo and Kamigamo shrines is held on 15 May each year, the date published in the Kyoto City Tourism Association's festival guide. Around 500 people in Heian court costume, with ox carts and horses, process from the Imperial Palace to Shimogamo Shrine and on to Kamigamo Shrine; in heavy rain it is postponed to 16 May.
