About this event
The Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art marks 100 years since the death of William Sturgis Bigelow (1850 to 1926), the Boston collector who championed Meiji nihonga painters such as Kano Hogai and Hashimoto Gaho and helped build the Japanese collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Works from the former Bigelow collection, including pieces now held in Aichi, anchor the show. The exhibition runs from 30 October to 13 December 2026, in two parts.
