Sendai's spring festival honouring Date Masamune, with sparrow dancing on the Saturday and a samurai procession and yamaboko floats on the Sunday.

The festival is held on the third Saturday and Sunday of May, close to the anniversary of Date Masamune's death on 24 May; the previous edition, the 41st, ran on 17 and 18 May 2025 under the organiser's published outline, so the 2027 edition is expected on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May 2027, as 2027 dates had not been published when checked. Saturday's eve festival centres on massed Sendai suzume odori sparrow dancing, and on Sunday the Date period procession and 12 yamaboko floats parade along Jozenji-dori, with musket and ladder performances.
