One of Japan's three great naked festivals: around 10,000 men in loincloths scramble for two sacred shingi sticks thrown into the crowd at 22:00 on a February night at Saidaiji temple. Free to watch from temple grounds; limited paid grandstand seats (approx ¥5,000-¥10,000) sold by the temple Paid viewing seats via the temple/Eyo supporters' association from December; shingi stick throw at 22:00, so plan a late night (JR Saidaiji station 10 min walk). Live-streamed on YouTube
