Begun as a celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Nagasaki Lantern Festival has become the largest event of its kind in Japan, displaying over 15,000 lanterns and objects around Shinchi Chinatown, Minato Park, Chuo Park, Meganebashi and other central venues. Discover Nagasaki, the official visitors guide, publishes the 2027 edition from February 5 to February 21, 2027, with dragon dances, lion dances and other stage performances.
