Hamamatsu City's official tourism site gives the festival as 3 to 5 May each year, during Golden Week. More than 170 neighbourhood kites, many flown for a firstborn child, fight to cut each other's strings over the dunes, and in the evening around 80 goten-yatai floats are hauled through the streets near Hamamatsu Station.
