The organiser's official site announced that the 34th Akagawa Fireworks Festival is scheduled for Saturday 21 August 2027. The 33rd edition was held on 15 August 2026 on the Akagawa riverbed between Mikawa Bridge and Haguro Bridge, with launches from 19:15 and no postponement in bad weather; Tsuruoka City's official tourism site describes pyrotechnicians from across the country converging to compete and showcase their skills in a display lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes.
